Celebrate our founder’s birthday as Pequot Library hosts a presentation on the art of fly fishing (everything you need to know to get started) by instructor Eric Johnson, owner of Westport Outfitters. Kids (ages 9+) and adults will have a chance to participate in a hands-on casting demonstration on the Great Lawn.

Come to Pequot Library for a fascinating evening of dynamic performances of the true-life tales of Senior storytellers! Under the guidance of Hope Fitzgerald, a group of senior citizens have developed dramatic performances of their own real life experiences. Through the art of storytelling, they have brought to life their own memories ranging from the humorous to the moving. It is sure to be an experience that will captivate and inspire audiences of all ages.

Kids Knit!

4:00-5:00 p.m.

Pequot’s own “Chicks with Sticks” (Library ladies who knit) will be on hand to pair up in one-on-one instruction for the beginning or experienced kid knitter. Join them as they share their passion and spark yours.

Newcomers’ Note: Please bring size 11 or 13 short, wooden needles (8-10 inches long), and a 200-yd. skein of non-fuzzy, straight bulky yarn for scarf project. These materials are much easier to work with for beginners.

Don’t cook – discuss a book!! Did you miss a classic with your children? This is a chance to share it with your family and others for an informal, “pizza-eating”, on-the-floor rap session.

Become a part of Pequot’s new Young Adult volunteer program, complete with team-designed logo, t-shirts, dogtags and other tools of the trade. Work with your peers to implement your own ideas and ours: be involved in future programming and the Book Sale, read to and entertain children, teach computer skills to seniors, keep our collection in order. Fulfill community service hours while having fun and starting something new!
