Membership in the Pequot Library Association

The Pequot Library Association (PLA) is at the core of all that Pequot is and does.  A part of the Library from its founding 120 years ago, the PLA supports the Library’s mission to bring literature, music, art and the humanities to the community.  Pequot Library is an association library, given to the community by Mr. and Mrs. Elbert Monroe, of Southport, CT, in 1894 and since then it has become a true American treasure and a center for civic pride. 

Pequot is a cultural center that hosts a set of musical and educational series and where children are introduced to the magic of reading and launched on the path to being lifelong learners.  We preserve a nationally important special collection of rare books, manuscripts and other materials, a collection begun the Library’s founders and increased over the years.

Friend (Under $100)

• Preferred admission to free programs
• Inclusion on the eFlyer email list and the Library’s mailing list

Advocate ($100 to $249)

• All the benefits of the Friend level, plus:
• Free or discounted admission to selected programs
• Discounts on Genealogical Services
• Invitations to join the Library’s “Further Afield Trips”

Patron ($250 to $999)

• All the benefits of the Advocate level, plus:
• Full access to members-only databases, such as the Classical Music Library and Smithsonian Global Sound for Libraries from the Alexander Street Press
• Free Genealogical Services
• Invitation to members-only Book Sale Preview

Benefactor ($1,000 to $4,999)

• All the benefits of the Patron level, plus:
• Discount on Golf Outing Registration
• Invitations to join the Library’s “Even Further Afield Trips”

Pequot Society ($5,000 to $9,999)

• All the benefits of the Benefactor level, plus:
• Free admission to Library sponsored Open VISIONS receptions

Marquand Society ($10,000 and above)

• All the benefits of the Pequot Society level, plus:
• Free use of the Auditorium for one event, in keeping with the Library’s policies
• Free admission to Art Show Preview Party
