2006-07 Annual Fund ~ Better than Ever!

By donating to the 2006-07 Pequot Library Annual Fund, you become a member of the Pequot Library Association and will begin to receive the benefits, both intangible and tangible, of supporting this remarkable institution.

What is Pequot Library?

Pequot Library was an extraordinarily generous gift given to the community by Mr. and Mrs. Elbert Monroe, of Southport, CT, in 1894. Since that time, the Library has remained true to its mission to bring literature, music, art and the humanities to the community and has become an American treasure and a center for civic pride. Pequot is a cultural center that hosts a set of musical and educational series and where children are introduced to the magic of reading and launched on the path to being lifelong learners. We preserve a nationally important special collection of rare books, manuscripts and other materials, a collection begun the Library’s founders and increased over the years.

Pequot Library is free and open to the public, as our founders intended, but as an association library, not a municipal library, we need your help to provide the programs and services that matter most to patrons. When you donate to the Annual Fund and join the Pequot Library Association (PLA), you help underwrite our tradition of excellence in serving the public. Joining the PLA will ensure that the Library can continue to:

  • Purchase the broad range of books, audio resources of all kinds, and other materials that have always made Pequot’s collection one of the best.
  • Provide the best in concerts, lectures, workshops, exhibits and other programs for patrons of all ages.
  • Help readers find just the book they are looking for within our collection through our readers’ advisory service, or at another library through interlibrary loan.
  • Enable our dedicated staff to continue to offer the warm, welcoming, helpful service that patrons of the Library have long enjoyed, on a schedule that meets the needs of the community.

What are the benefits of PLA membership?

Being a PLA member means that Pequot Library is truly YOUR library. In addition to supporting the core library programs and services that matter most, your gift to the Annual Fund makes you “the first to know.” Tell us your email address when you donate to the Library and we’ll send you our E-Flyers! These are brief, illustrated emails sent to PLA members giving advance notification about specific programs and events.

PLA members will receive our seasonal newsletter, updating them on all the “goings-on” at the Library, as well as invitations to our special events and functions. Click here to read more about these under the “Events” section of the website.

Another benefit of joining the PLA is our Further Afield Trips, which are open only to members. We sponsor a series of trips to museums, libraries, and other destination to explore the rich cultural life of the region and discover exhibits, other special libraries, wonderful architecture, music and art.

Make your gift to Pequot Library today! With your help, we will be better than ever.
