Pequot Library develops and maintains its Rare
Book Collection for the use of researchers, scholars, and
writers, as well as all others who seek knowledge and enjoyment
from access to the collections.
The Rare Book Collection is made up of 30,000 volumes, housed on
the Library premises. The subject matter of the collection is American
History, Genealogy and Local History, 19th Century Periodicals,
Southport Picture File, and the Art of the Book and History of Printing
collections.
All books can be found by searching in the Library online catalog
or by using the card catalog.
Requests for usage of material can be made in person or by appointment.
The Rare Book Collection is a non-circulating collection. It must
be used in the Library only. However, most material may be photocopied.
